Meet Chris Mog
Christine Mog is a working mom, a small business owner and a homeowner here in Woodbury. She has never been prouder of this community than she has in the last few months; watching her neighbors in the subzero Minnesota weather, standing up for all those who did not feel safe protesting.
She grew up in St Paul, graduating from Como Park Senior High before attending Wellesley College for a degree in Economics, and MIT for an MBA. She brings decades of experience understanding the stories behind the numbers.
Her priorities, if elected, are as follow:
Safe Streets
E-bikes and E-scooters have become a part of our daily lives. MN has passed statutes regarding minimum age of operation for them, 15yo for E-bikes and 12yo for E-scooters. Cottage Grove Public Safety spent 1 year doing a study on this. Their takeaways were that preventive safety classes were the best tool for increasing safety on these devices. With these minimum ages in mind, Woodbury could offer preventive safety classes after school at the middle schools and high schools. As vehicle insurance legislation is changing (putting burden on parents of minors), there is an incentive for parents to sign their children up for such classes.
Hyperscale data centers are coming near us soon. At the moment, they also bring air, water, noise and heat pollution, when we want to keep our streets clear of these issues. Woodbury should address its current water issues before taking more on.
Better Budget
Property Tax Revenues have risen 37% over the last 4 years in Woodbury.
There are ways to get services and infrastructure for Woodbury without always using tax revenues. Other cities have figured out ways to do so, Woodbury should follow suit.
Small Business
Woodbury residents affectionately joke that our community can best be described by the long waiting lines at Cane's and helicopter noises over the city. Woodbury is the 7th largest city in MN and should have more distinction than long lines and helicopters overhead. By developing a vibrant small business community, we can decide what Woodbury should be. We can be an oasis for old and young alike. We can be a sanctuary for young working families.
